How do I activate the subscription on another device?  

Initial Device

In order to activate the subscription on an additional device, you must ensure that your email address has been manually added to the subscription on the device that was used to initially purchase the subscription. This device is known as the initial device.

💡 The email address must be the same one used when you purchased the subscription (e.g., the one linked to your Google account signed into the Play Store on your Android device, or your Apple Account signed in to the App Store)

1. Open the DuckDuckGo browser on the initial device and open the 3-line menu > Settings.
2. Under Subscription Settings, go to “Add to Another Device”.
3. Select “Add email” and enter your email address linked to the account that purchased the subscription (e.g., the Google account on an Android device, or the Apple Account on an iPhone, etc.).
4. DuckDuckGo will send a one-time passphrase (OTP) for authentication purposes. This OTP will be 4 randomly generated words separated by spaces, and all lower-case letters.
5. This OTP will need to be entered, exactly as written, into the designated field in the DuckDuckGo browser on the initial device. Note: this step is time-sensitive, as the OTP expires after 5-10 minutes.

Additional Device  

Once you’ve successfully authenticated your email address on the initial device, and it has been manually linked to your subscription, you can then activate the subscription on an additional device.

1. Open the DuckDuckGo browser on the additional device and open the 3-line menu > Settings.
2. Under Subscription Settings, go to “Add to Another Device”.
3. Select “I Have a Subscription” and follow the steps to enter the same email address linked to the subscription (added in step 3 on the initial device).
4. DuckDuckGo will send a one-time passphrase (OTP) for authentication purposes. This OTP will be 4 randomly generated words separated by spaces, and all lower-case letters.
5. This OTP will need to be entered, exactly as written, into the designated field in the DuckDuckGo browser on the initial device. Note: this step is time-sensitive, as the OTP expires after 5-10 minutes.
6. Once the passphrase is entered correctly, your subscription will be activated on your additional device.
