As soon as you complete the purchase for your DuckDuckGo subscription (available on iOS, Android, Mac, and Windows), you can start taking advantage of its included services immediately on the device on which you subscribed (a.k.a. your initial device).
Although the subscription is intended for personal, individual use, you can activate it on other devices to use the VPN and access advanced models in Duck.ai.
💡 If you want to activate your subscription on more than your initial device, you will need to provide an email address for authentication. To do this, on both your initial device and any additional devices, follow the steps below.
Add your subscription to other devices
If you’re in the DuckDuckGo browser:
- If you’re in the DuckDuckGo browser, open the three-line menu next to the address bar.
- Go to Settings > Subscription Settings
- Select I Have a Subscription, then follow the prompts to add the email address you already added to your initial device.
If you’re using Duck.ai in a different browser:
- Open the Settings & More option in the sidebar panel.
- Go to Settings > I Have a Subscription, then follow the prompts to add the email address you already added to your initial device.
When you add your email address, DuckDuckGo will send a one-time passphrase (OTP) for authentication purposes. This OTP will be 4 randomly generated words separated by spaces, and all lower-case. This OTP will need to be entered, exactly as written, into the designated field in the DuckDuckGo browser.
Once you’ve manually authenticated your email address, you will see it displayed on the Subscription Settings screen. If you need to make any changes to the email address you can use the “Edit” button.
Do I need the DuckDuckGo browser to use my subscription?
The VPN and Personal Information Removal are configured and managed through the DuckDuckGo browser. So, in order to set up and maintain those features, the DuckDuckGo browser is required. However, advanced models for Duck.ai can be accessed from any browser with an activated subscription.

You can access your subscription on any device with the DuckDuckGo browser installed. First, download the DuckDuckGo browser (or update to the latest version), then follow the instructions for your device.
