We share:
- Today’s date
- Your timezone
- Preferred unit system based on global region
We guess your global region using a GEO::IP lookup without saving your actual IP or precise location. Sharing these details helps ensure responses use the right units, reference local dates, and align with your time zone, making answers more accessible and relevant.

Do you share any identifiable information with model providers?
No. Duck.ai never passes on any personally identifiable information to AI model providers.
Can Duck.ai know which city I’m in?
Duck.ai can privately share your city-level location with AI model providers to tailor responses without exposing your exact location or IP address. The “Use Approximate Location" setting is optional and turned off by default. You can enable it in Duck.ai settings, and Duck.ai will remember your choice. Turning on “Use Approximate Location" can improve your Duck.ai experience by providing more locally relevant answers.
If you have this setting enabled, Duck.ai simply guesses the city nearest to your location using a GEO::IP lookup. As with search, when you visit our website, your device automatically sends some information to us, like an IP address. We strip out your IP address, so it’s never sent to any of our model providers, including OpenAI, Anthropic, Together.ai, and Microsoft Azure Open. Instead, we provide a city-level location to the instructions we send to model providers, then we throw away both the guesses location and IP address, as per our Privacy Policy, saving none of that info to our server.
